The 2015-2018 National Strategic Plan (NSP) is aligned to the Kenya Health Sector Strategic and Investment Plan 2013 - 2017 and the global post – 2015 plan. It promotes strategic interventions unique for each county, and which have the greatest impact for case notification, childhood tuberculosis, drug resistant tuberculosis, leprosy and lung diseases. For the first time, priority interventions related to key affected populations, gender and human rights are covered.

Phase out of Streptomycin based category 2 Tuberculosis treatment regimenThe Ministry of Health has been treating drug susceptible TB patients using Z treatment categories, Category 1 (ZRHZE/ 4RH) for treatment naive patients and Category Z (ZSRHZE, 1RHZE,5RHE) for retreatment patients. With effect from 1st January, 2016, the Ministry is phasing out category Z TB regimen. Read More
